Roy Thomas is a graduate of Catholic University of America where he started his career interest and concentration in Mental Health and Marriage & Family Therapy. While at Catholic University, he interned at the Georgetown University Child Development Center and became experienced in working with children, adults and couples.
His career expertise became more focused as the Director of Alcohol and Drug Abuse at Catholic Charities where he worked with adolescents, victims of domestic violence, females with dissociative disorders and unaccompanied refugee minors.
Mr. Thomas was introduced to EMDR in 1993 at the VA Medical Center where he treated veterans with PTSD, substance abuse disorders and chronic mental illnesses.
He completed EMDR Basic Training I in South Bend Indiana in 2009 and subsequently began a private practice which focused on providing EMDR therapy, facilitation, consultation and field placement supervision. Roy has a special interest in neuroscience research, attachment, victims of crime/violence, offenders, addictions, binge-eating disorders and obesity.
He is a Certified EMDR Therapist and has practiced as an EMDRIA Approved Consultant since March 2015. Enroute to becoming an Approved Consultant, he received consultation through the EMDR Training Center and Roy Kiessling, Approved Consultants and Trainers.
Mr. Thomas continues to work with the EMDR Training Center as an assistant trainer, practicum facilitator and consultant, as well as a certification program consultant.
